TEEN DRIVERS

Getting a license is a significant milestone in every teenager's life,

Let us help you get one step closer to your independence. Here is

some useful information to assist you through the process.

 ( If you already have a permit, please go to step 3 ) 

Minors obtaining license

1- Complete Driver Education course

Our online course is approved by DMV and driving school association and satisfies the 30 hours requirement by the DMV . To Register  click this link. Online Driver's Ed Once the course is completed, you will receive a completion certificate. (Pink color, see sample below) 

2- Obtain Your Permit

 Requirements to obtain a permit

  • Be at least 15 1/2 years old. 
  • Fill out DL44 form on the DMV website. 
  • Present two acceptable proof of Residency Documents. 
  • Provide your original birth certificate. (US Passport also Accepted)
  • Driver Education completion Certificate.
  • Provide your social security Number. 
  • Application Fee 

3- Take Driver Training Course

Minors are required to take 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with an instructor. The permit that you obtain from DMV is not valid until you start your training with a Licensed Instructor. After the first lesson (2 hours) your permit will be signed which enables you to also practice with your parents or a licensed driver 25 years of age or older with a valid California license. Upon completion of the  6 hours, you would receive a completion Certificate. (Orange color, see sample below) 

4- Get additional training

In addition to the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with an instructor, you must also provide parent or guardian signature on your permit certifying that you have completed 50 hours of additional supervised driving practice (10 hours must be night driving) as outlined in the California PARENT-TEEN TRAINING GUIDE. 


5- Take your Drive Test at DMV

 Requirements to obtain a License:

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Have held your California instruction permit for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Have completed 6 hours of professional driver training. 
  • Have completed 50 hours of practice with an adult 25 years of age or older.
